Now, fast forward to the effort to recruit Nations Baseball to expand in Jeffersonville. Jim Keith and several members of the Clark-Floyd Convention and Tourism Bureau’s board of directors accompanied city officials to Cooperstown, N.Y., to see the existing facility. It had been our hope that Mr. Keith would spend some of his time there with hoteliers, restaurateurs and shop owners, getting a feel for the economic impact that a facility that draws around 50,000 people a summer has on a community.

Our people who traveled to Cooperstown said that Mr. Keith was, instead, preoccupied with eating dinner. While I did not make the trip to Cooperstown personally, I have found it interesting that those who did go have repeatedly and independently of one another referred to his performance there as “embarrassing.”
