DEM PARTY CALLS FOR MOORE RESIGNATION

JEFFERSONVILLE-  Democratic Party Chairman calls for resignation of Mike Moore as
Clark County Commissioner today.

Rod Pate,  party Chairman and other party officials published an open letter to Commissioner and current Republican candidate for Mayor, Mike Moore, to resign his seat as Commissioner.

In November,  Mr. Moore was re-elected to the spot on the Democratic ticket.  Within a week,  he had announced his intention to run for Jeffersonville Mayor, presumably as a Democrat.

Jeffersonville cannot afford for me not to run.
— Newly announced Jeffersonville mayoral candidate Mike Moore. EN Nov. 7,2010.
However,  in February,  Mr. Moore announced he was leaving the Democratic Party and would instead run for Mayor on the Republican ticket saying, at the time, Party labels were meaningless to him.

“We need to get past that,” he said. “We put too much emphasis on party labels. I am a candidate for mayor; if people want to vote for Mike Moore they’re going to get Mike Moore. They’re not going to get a Republican or a Democrat. They’re going to get somebody who wants to help the people of Jeffersonville. I firmly believe the work I’ve done in the past will continue on and people will get past the politics of this.”

When asked if he was concerned that his swapping parties will affect the minds of the voters, Moore was confident it would not.

“I think people are ready to elect the person instead of the party,” he said. - EN

Today in an open letter published in the News Tribune the Democrat Party Leadership called on Moore to step down.   Here is the letter:

Party heads comment on switch

While the Democrat Central Committee wishes Mike Moore the best in his political pursuits, we disagree with his comments about the Democratic leadership of Clark County.

The Democrat Central Committee welcomed him with open arms, just as we welcome anyone who wants to make Clark County a better place to live. The Democrat Central Committee stood behind Moore. He attended our meetings, functions and fundraisers. Moore ran a successful campaign for commissioner and the Central Committee defended him when we felt he was being treated unfairly.

Furthermore, the committee thinks that Moore has an obligation to the voters of Clark County that elected him. The voters of Clark County elected a Democratic Commissioner and that is what they deserve.

We call upon Mike to step down as a Clark County Commissioner.

— Rod Pate, party chairman; Nancy Kraft, vice-chairperson; and Mike Hall, treasurer; Clark County Democratic  Party

There are no precedents for a local office holder switching parties and running for office WHILE IN OFFICE that come to mind.  One reason Moore may want to win the top City spot may have been revealed
when he discussed his run for Commissioner...as a Democrat, back in May 2011.
One of the major problems Moore saw as adding to the county’s current financial crisis is Jeffersonville’s annexation of subdivisions east and north of the city limits, including Oak Park.

“T
he Jeff annexation destroyed our budget,” he said.  EN May 1, 2010.

Moore said the solution is to, “
Ask Jeff to deannex.”

Will Moore seek to deannex the newly annexed areas in Jeff?

The control by the CCC's "politburo type propaganda organ may be ready to crack! A VERY brave poster has commented on the CCC about a post by Goliath and mentioned your site, but not yet by its total name. Is this a test to see if the "People's Republic of the CCC" is loosening its grip on political desention and statements against the party line?

A Chatterer writes, "Well, if I were a Democrat Precinct Committee member I believe this would be an issue that would need to be addressed.

I will assume the Democrat Committee operates under a democratic process, which would include all members having an opportunity to voice their feelings on any public position.

What's next; these same 3 signees appointing replacement officials at only their discretion, in the event elected offices become vacant?

Mike, Tom, is this question in keeping with your thoughts? Perhaps all Precinct Committee persons should ask why they were not included in this press release...... Perhaps Rod Pate should have to answer for this action. "

Apparently, they are encouraging Hutt ( in his capacity as a loyal democratic precinctcommitteeman) demand that Pate "answer for this".

That is SO RIGHTEOUSLY GREAT!
