The LIST Numbers 8-10

8. The whole state of Oklahoma

9. The whole state of Missouri

10. Ground Zero in New York City

I respect the impulse to ‘do something’ to memorialize one of the
Worst days in my lifetime. We all were traumatized by September 11, 2001.
But I, for one, totally disagree with the idea of making a park and a memorial out of the site of the Twin Towers. How depressing! This is an
Idea that our great grandfathers would NEVER have done! But in our
Current social world where everybody’s a ‘victim’ it became inevitable that
We would have to put up some cheesy ‘memorial’ to 9/11. Sorry, ‘include
Me, OUT”. Just my opinion, but the right thing to do was to rebuild on
The site of the towers new ‘badass’ buildings with daring architectural
Design and a kick ass look.
When I see these athletes who have lost a limb.. The ones I admire
And that embody the American moxy spirit are those who say “screw it”
And continue to pursue their sport without the limb. I can feel sorry for
An athlete who loses a limb and ‘has to give up their sport’ etc., but that’s
Not who we cheer for is it? Why then have we hung a memorial on our
Gaping wound and said “we can’t use it no more. Just come and remember
Our victim hood”.

Alternative:

If you are down in the financial district of lower Manhattan, steer
Clear of Ground Zero. If you want to see something crazy and fun and
Optimistic and unbelievable, go visit the visitors floor of the New York
Stock Exchange and watch the largest, craziest and most amazing trading
Market in the world in action. Even as a teenager who didn’t know the
First thing about what it was all about I was charged up and thrilled by
The palpable excitement and drama of watching the traders do their thing.
That’s America.
