News and Tribune in UNSIGNED Editorial show's it's own ignorance. Hangs the blame in the wrong place
This Opinion is a bunch of baloney. Cherok was sentenced in Floyd County back in the mid teens to 9.5 years. His out date was July of 2021.
His CLARK county sentence of 6 years was supposed to kick in AFTER that was served. It's all in the Court records on MYCASE. Somehow though,
Cherok is out of prison catching a NEW Floyd County Meth case in February of 2020. That should have been the red flag things were awry. Whose
fault is that? The prosecutor gave Cherok a sweetie deal that ran his time CONCURRENT (ie...no real punishment). WOW. How about putting
him back in prison instead? At least to his scheduled release date on his old felonies. Here's the link DOC OUT DATE PROOF
Blaming Judge Brad Jacobs is a bunch of nonsense. Should he have recused back in 2016? I don't know...probably..but the record shows the
conflict was waived by the defense and at the very least aquiesced to by the State. In any case had nothing to do with him being out.
Those hearings on the revocation that were reset in 2021 and 2022? Not a single sign the prosecutor objected. Tells me that 'behind
the scenes' both sides were trying to work out a plea deal. Shame on the News Tribune for trying to hang blame on Judge Jacobs. If you
want to blame somebody or something you need to work harder. The opinion is LHF and show you either are too lazy to figure
out what's going on, too naive/uninformed, or maybe both. You owe Judge Jacobs an apology.
